generic blog title #12

2 comments Friday, September 17, 2010
I've been such a slack blogger in the last month or so. This is due to being super busy but mostly being lazy.

Anyway, a lot has happened in the last few weeks..

I started an internship with my local Federal Member of Parliament.
I got a new job and quit my old job that I'd been working at for almost 4 years!
Australia voted and the winner was Labor.

I actually got to meet Julia Gillard, our Prime Minister! I have nothing but positive words about her. She was very sweet, lovely and easy to talk to.

Anyway, enough talk about me and enough talk about politics- you are probably all asleep by now!

How have you all been and what is new in your lives? x

I want your opinions!

0 comments Thursday, April 1, 2010

Hello dear readers :)

It would be the best thing ever if you could spare 2 minutes of your time to fill out this super short survey for me. It's designed so I can get feedback on 'shut up, vita' and ultimately make it a more interesting and fun blog.

All results are anonymous, so I won't know who the person is that tells me I'm an uncoordinated sped. :)

Thank you, it's much appreciated. ♥ ♥

blog award :)

6 comments Friday, March 5, 2010
Thank you to the every loverly Tina from Five Foot Nothing for presenting me with this blog award.

I have to tell you 7 things about myself so here we goooooo.

1. I think it's disgusting that there is a Mt Franklin bottled water showbag at the Easter Show this year. Sorry but if I wanted water, I'd just go to my tap.

2. I really think that the scents of methylated spirits, petrol, cleaning products and mineral turpentine are nice. Not in a fragrance wearing way, but in a "mmm are you filling up your car" kind of way.

3. As you've probably noticed by a trend in my blog posts, I think the magazine industry is rapidly going downhill. Yet I still aspire to have a career in this field. I can't work out if it's a good or bad thing that magazines/general print media will be dead very soon.

4. I really think everyone just needs to CALM DOWN about the film 'Avatar'. It really can't be that good.

5. The novelty of having an iPhone wears off after about 3 minutes.

6. I recently saw a woman in an airport lounge with a giant sticker across her laptop proclaiming "Follow me on Twitter!!! [insert username here]". I am deeply embarassed and sad for the lame and desperate life this woman must lead. Talk about going to extreme lengths to gain popularity.

7. At time of going to print- I have approximately 68 dresses in ownership. Is this one (or 40) too many?

I'm passing on this award to:

Stacey/Miss Peregrin from The Secret Life of a Retail Assistant

Tara from Gin in a Teacup

just on a side note..

My laptop is being an absolute moron as of late. It's not allowing me to comment on blogspot hosted blogs that don't have a pop up box for the comments. Just thought I'd let you all know so that you don't think I'm being a twat and not commenting your posts, I promise that I have been reading them though :)

If anyone knows how I can fix this little inconvenience in my life, please comment on here or shoot me an email at

Thanks, x

2009 in my life.

3 comments Thursday, December 31, 2009
2009 has had ups and downs and tips and turns.

Because I'm bored/in a relationship with myself, I thought I'd share with you all the (un)interesting things that happened to me in the 09'.

I finished a short course in media, meeting some amazing people; friends that I'll still be laughing with when we're 75.

Auditioned to be a presenter on the new children's television network ABC3 and failed. I thought it'd be a good idea to make my audition 'different' and 'not what people would think to do'.....all the presenters chosen had really typical video auditions. Last time I try to be clever, ever again!

Began 'shut up, vita', consequently polluting more online space with my biased opinions, whinging about politics, laughter at innocent bystanders and most importantly, my mindless bullshit.

Gained entry into university next year, studying Communications/Broadcast Journalism.

Did an internship at a magazine for teenage girls. I won't name the publication but I will say that yes, they do recycle stories. Regularly.

Was part of a sketch filmed for one of my favourite television shows. Most likely in the top 5 fun days I have had this year.

I wrote a wanky, self indulgent blog post about myself.

gifts and giveaways :)

3 comments Thursday, November 26, 2009
Today in the mail I received a Frankie Magazine 2010 Calendar. The lovely Amanda from Here Comes The Sun ran a giveaway last week and I was lucky enough to win :) The calendar has the most beautiful illustrations and layout- it's so very cute.

Anyway, anyway. I thought this was an appropriate time to announce that I'm going to have a Christmas/end of year type giveaway on 'shut up, vita'. I'll post more details next week and give you the opportunity to enter.

I haven't put the whole thing together but it's going to be a little basket full of exciting goodies. I promise it will be good and not a seedy little thing :P

I feel a bit bad about only one person being able to win so maybe I will have a 2nd prize too :)

So keep checking back for details and your opportunity to enter!

Blog award #1

The ever lovely Stacey from The Secret Life of a Retail Assistant passed this blog award onto me.. my very first one :) Thank you!

So I have to tell you 7 random facts about myself. I cannot guarantee that all/any of these facts will be interesting :D

1. I'll just get this out of the way first- I think Twilight is crap. How people can be in love with a fictional character is beyond me.

2. I'm influenced and inspired by people such as Lisa Wilkinson, Stevie Nicks, Judith Lucy,  Jean Shrimpton, John Lennon and Kate Miller-Heidke, all for very different reasons.

3. I have the ability to do things that people assumed would never happen to anyone, e.g. I once tripped over the groove in between floor tiles. Yes, that's right. I tripped over something 2 millimetres high.

4. Deep down (or perhaps not so deep down), I'm a really big nerd for Australian Politics/Media. Yes. I do watch Question Time. Yes, I do enjoy it.

5. Putting really ugly outfits on the mannequins at work is my greatest source of amusement. Until you try it, you have no idea how fun it is to pair a mould green top with a black+orange skirt with a fluro blue necklace.

6. I  have a secret (now not-so-secret) desire to have Matt Preston name one of his cravats after me. People outside Australia and even some people in Australia will have no idea what that means.

7. I think birds are cute, but they take every opportunity to swoop me. Even if they are a non swooping bird, like a seagull. This is not appreciated when I am trying to look normal in important situations i.e. filming something for a television show. It is also not appreciated when the other actors and even random people walking past laugh at me.

So now, I have to pass this blog award onto 7 other bloggers!

1. Corrine from Frock and Roll- She's always got amazing tips on everything from fashion, to buying a house, to living everyday life. She's also super sweet!

2. Juliette from  where the wild wolves dream - Juliette is the most amazing writer and produces beautiful poetry. She also has some pretty fab photos :)

3. Kez from So I Was Thinking - Great writer with analytical but fun and interesting discussions about anything and everything.

4. Tara from Gin in a Teacup-  Fashion, media issues and entertainment is all covered in immaculate detail.

5. Dom from Stand and Deliver! - As described "The observations, reviews and interviews of Dom Romeo, professional nerd" - This blog is really well written and contains everything from comedy, to politics, to music, to literature.

6. Suzy from Suzy Maggie - An awesome blog that covers plenty of different topics. Some nice fashion too :)

7. Sarah Hannah from Death Wears Diamond Jewellery - A lovely blog about all things fashion, entertainment and social issues.

paper dolls :)

8 comments Tuesday, September 29, 2009
As mentioned in a previous blog post, the paper doll artwork in my banner was made by Megan Isabella. She's a wonderful artist and was recently featured in Frankie magazine. She agreed to immortalise me in the style of a vintage paper doll.

This is 'me':

Here are some others that I think are cute:

Check out Megan's amazing work at her website.

new layout

3 comments Sunday, September 27, 2009

As you might have noticed, I've completely changed the layout for 'Shut up, Vita'.

Big thanks to my friend Liv for creating the top banner and to Christian for pointing out the blatantly obvious in my wrongdoings of HTML coding. :)

The paper doll artwork drawing was done by Megan Isabella, I'll post her full details shortly- you'll love her work!

What do you all think of the layout? Any changes to be made?

Just wanted to do a bit of a quick survey here..

I was thinking of starting to write up a couple of feature articles/interviews with people I find interesting and/or unique... or people that have something to plug.

So what I want to know is, are you guys interested in reading interviews with people or not really?

Thanks everyone. :)

This photo was taken by my good friend Sebastian. He's such a fabulous photographer. You can have a look at his amazing photos here

you bet i 'pimped my profile'

1 comments Wednesday, August 12, 2009
I really got sick of the premade blogger template that was used previous to this one I've done now.
I'm not 100% sure about the colour scheme though.. this yellowy background is slightly off-putting. I do like the patterned background though :)

And to be completely random, my brother took this photo near my house the other day. I thought it was stunning so I'll share it with all of you. It was taken on a phone though, so do excuse the imperfect photo quality.

What do you guys think about this new layout? Feedback/Suggestions on improving the colour?

Seeing as how blogging is now the ever trendy thing to do, and I'm never one to follow the trends, I've started a blog. Most recently inspired by the wonderful

Corrine and her website

Frock and Roll, I've decided that Facebook status' and 140 character limits on Twitter are not near the space I need to vent my biased opinions on all things media, fashion, politics and life in general.

You'll all probably (regretfully) learn more about me, the misadventures I try to encourage in my daily life and the quests in which I take to find out exactly what is going on with Bert Newton's hair piece, why does Jodi Gordon have a fetish for Kings Cross strip clubs, and why are people so offended by comedy these days?

Overall, welcome to 'shut up, vita' and thanks for reading my opening post (that's 1 1/2 minutes of your life you'll never get back).
