If you’re currently residing in Australia you’d know that the Federal Election is being held this Saturday 21st August. It’s come down to the wire- Julia Gillard (ALP) vs Tony Abbott (LNP).
Tony Abbott is living in the 1850's. He has no idea about anything and is currently acting like a 5 year old by refusing a debate on the economy. He's refusing this because he has NO economic plan for Australia.
Please, please, please don't vote for Tony Abbott.
I also think that this anecdote is relevant.
'Tony Abbott, the man who on Sunday may be in charge of Australia's $1.3 trillion economy, actually slept through the most important economic vote in living memory. That's right, as the Federal Parliament debated Federal Labor's stimulus package, Mr Abbott was asleep in his office.'

argh! i think being able to vote is such an important thing and yet i have no idea who to vote for and i end up doing a donkey vote and i feel guilty.
can someone make a guide to each of their policies/opions etc and write it out as if they were talking to a 5 year old? then maybe id have a clue.
What I'm doing is voting Labor [1] in the House of Representatives and The Greens [2]. In the Senate though, I will vote The Greens [1] so they get the balance of power.
I guess, think about what's important to you and what issues you care about. Then have a look online at the different parties websites, read through their policies and see which ones appeal to you more :)
I feel just like you.
I posted that video on my facebook page and I think it's really important that we don't forget these things he has said. They are emotively motivated issues (ie they show a person's true colours) and he won't be changing his attitudes any time soon.
People say that women shouldn't vote for him, but men who love women shouldn't either!
I also believe donkey votes will get us nowhere, despite how frustrating it can be when your options seem limited. We have to exercise our right to democracy. Make your vote a protest vote.
Brilliantly said, Kez.
The dude thinks because he has a wife & three daughters this makes him some great supporter of women. He might support & respect *those* women but it's evident that he practically despises the rest of us.
I too posted that GetUp! video on Facebook. It's great that it's finally on television now, gets the message out to so many more people. Though, the political advertising blackout started last night so I'll be trying to spread that YouTube video around as much as possible before election day.
It was a bit amusing too, Abbott hit out at GetUp! (though it wasn't publicised much) and he said something along the lines of "GetUp need to get real" hahahaha, talk about the lamest comeback in history.
Please don't waste your vote. ABC radio has been running an audio grab of a woman talking about the East Timorese, who suffered so much to get the right to vote, and yet we Aussies can be cynical and apathetic about the whole thing.
